Form & Frame

Our Story

About

Plotter-made artwork for places, routes, and forms that already mean something. Built with code, drawn with real pens, and finished one sheet at a time.

Medium

Real pen on heavyweight paper, not an inkjet print.

Method

Data, drawing systems, and plotting paths built from scratch.

Fulfilment

Carefully packed and shipped within Switzerland.

Why this exists

I built this for myself as I wanted a few pieces for my own walls. I wanted something personal. Nothing I found came close, so I learned to make it: wrote the code, built the tooling, and eventually bought a plotter.

At some point the work got good enough that keeping it to myself felt like a waste. If you find a piece here that speaks to you — a marathon you ran, a trail you love. That is the only reason this shop exists.

The inspiration board — blueprints, generative patterns, portraits, and topography experiments. This is where new ideas get tested before they become finished pieces.

What we make

Every piece is drawn line by line by a pen plotter using archival pens on premium heavyweight paper. No inkjet, no laser — a real pen moving across real paper, controlled by code.

We work with GPS data, OpenStreetMap, elevation models, and generative algorithms to create art that is both precise and personal. Marathon routes, city maps, technical blueprints, and abstract patterns — each piece is individually plotted, making every print a one-of-a-kind original.

The process

A design starts as code or data. GPS tracks become routes, map tiles become line networks, algorithms generate patterns. The resulting vector paths are sent to the plotter, which draws them one stroke at a time with an archival pigment pen.

Because each piece is physically drawn, there are small natural variations — a slightly different pen pressure here, a subtle overlap there. These are not defects. They are the signature of the machine and the medium.

Materials

We use 200–350 gsm premium paper and quality pens — Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic for maps and Stabilo Point 88 for blueprints. Each pen is chosen for its line quality and colour consistency.

Shipping

We currently ship within Switzerland only. Each piece is carefully packaged with acid-free tissue paper and rigid cardboard backing to arrive safely.
